Conversations are happening everywhere – around tables, in groups, online, in moments of tension, curiosity, and change. Navigate those moments with confidence, respect, and clarity.

The Core Idea

Agree to Disagree isn’t about winning debates or landing on the “right” answer.

It’s about learning how to stay present, curious, and constructive – especially when opinions differ.

Because disagreement isn’t the problem.
Disconnection is.

How it Helps

Agree to Disagree teaches participants how to:

  • Talk to each other instead of past each other

  • Build trust through intentional dialogue

  • Practice understanding without needing agreement

  • Develop open-mindedness in real time

It doesn’t tell people what to think.
It teaches them how to talk.

Where to play?

Agree to Disagree helps build conversation skills between humans. That means you can play anywhere humans interact.

The Science Behind It

Agree to Disagree equips people with conversation techniques that go beyond the basics.

It helps people:

  • Say hard things without harm

  • Listen without preparing a comeback

  • Stay engaged instead of shutting down

This is skill-building, not performative conversation.

Why Conversation Skills Matter Now

At home and across generations
Younger generations are growing up in a world of fast opinions, digital communication, and limited opportunities to practice face-to-face disagreement. Agree to Disagree supports the development of core conversation skills – listening, perspective-taking, and respectful expression – early and often.

In society
Social trends show increasing polarization and a growing discomfort with disagreement. Many people avoid difficult conversations altogether, while others escalate quickly. This game creates a structured, low-risk way to practice disagreement without disconnection.

In workplaces
Communication is consistently identified as a critical “soft skill” – and one of the most underdeveloped. As workplaces become more diverse and collaborative, the ability to navigate complex conversations, give feedback, and manage tension is no longer optional. It is a foundational leadership and team skill.

Built on Practice, Not Theory Alone

Agree to Disagree was developed by Dr. Janelle Abela, drawing on her experience as a K–12 classroom teacher, her work with youth groups, and years of designing and delivering communication and leadership training in workplace settings.

The game translates research-informed dialogue practices into a simple, repeatable tool that builds confidence and competence – wherever conversations happen.

Because strong communication isn’t instinctive. It’s learned, practiced, and strengthened over time.

Make conversations safer.
Make dialogue more effective.
Build confidence where it matters most.

Agree to Disagree prepares people for a future where communication skills aren't optional – they're essential. The goal isn’t agreement. It’s understanding.
